What's in the cards? VOTE!

I pulled a few cards for the election: here are the results and my interpretation.

The Magician: It is possible to create whatever you desire on the earth plane. In order to achieve this one must trust that the universe has all the elements available to harness if you reach outside yourself.

In regards to the election: The one who is elected will be a person whom can truly manifest greatness, who has the desire to mix elements and create a new way of being. Someone who utilizes all resources and strengths available.

In reverse this could mean slight of hand or pulling the wool over others eyes to gain power.

Strength or Luster: Love conquers all. In challenging times we must look within . We must stare deep into the beasts eyes lay down our weapons and live through honor and love. Only love can tame the beast, weapons or use of brute strength only annoys and makes stronger your enemy. Beware of the temptation to use force and force victory, for those acts will only cause temporary freedom, true freedom is won through love, agreements and spoken words. It takes more courage to stand and strive to understand your enemy than to blindly lash out and try to destroy it.

The pen is mightier than the sword. Only one willing to lay down the sword will succeed in today's world.

The Three of Pentacles can be summed up as a card that often comes up to mark the achievement of goals in your working area, and teaches attainment through effort. It advises you to keep the pressure up so that you maintain momentum, and to pay attention to detail. Through focus and determined effort victory will be achieve. Vision must be clean, clear and the apprentice must be willing to hold steady for extended periods of time, holding nothing but the detailed vision of his success. Only then will mastery be granted to him.

May the man with the clearest vision and supporters who help him hold that vision win.
Blessed be, I must say I am delighted this event is almost behind us. I can see the finish line and so I shall put on that extra bit of steam and put every last bit of effort I have into manifesting both a record breaking voter turn out and a glorious new shift of focus.

may it be so.

If you haven't yet voted it is your right and your responsibility and if you aren't registered then shame on you for missing out on one of the most unique days in the history of America, for I think it shall be unique and amazing. Also since you lack foresight and responsibility you cannot bitch, moan nor complain about what occurs. Maybe next time it will force you to get up off your ass and take a stand, and make a choice.

I have been dreaming. Weird sometimes violent dreams, all of them disturbing. To find meaning in the chaotic visions I have been reading and discovering that once again I am purging stories that keep me small.

Today I was wandering through Eckhart Tolle's New Earth and felt compelled to write about the Death card.

I believe we have very compelling stories about the lives we are all living and I believe those stories keep us safe and sane. But sometimes those stories are keeping us from our potential and they need to be re-written or die.

The death card symbolizes an ending. Transformation is occurring or is about to ride into town and shake things up. Death is usually never about a literal physical death but about a small Ego death.

The problem with Ego death is that it can often be worse than a literal death. After all you won't be around to have to clean up the messes involved in a actual death, you get to depart and therefore any risks you take or promises you break or vial words- well that won't catch up to you until the next incarnation. An Ego death can be messy, brutal and more frightening then jumping out of an airplane.

The joy of Ego death is that you are growing beyond the confines and limiting aspects of the story you have written yourself into. And from personal experience of at least 10 minor and major Ego deaths, most of them are quiet easy transitions once you decide to take the leap.

So when Death come knocking in a reading, you can bet I am eagerly scanning the cards around it for helpful suggestions, things to watch out for, and ways to make the ending and subsequent beginning more easy.

From New Earth:
"All it means is that sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on."
and
"Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because it is the experience you are having at the moment."

And if nothing else can convince you to embrace the joys of death remember that the French call an orgasm "La petite mort" the little death. Here's to an abundance of little deaths!

Times they are a changing

This post is long overdue. Alas it is here at the most perfect of times, as with everything.

As a nation (and a planet) we are undergoing a huge shift in the way of things. I believe we have come upon the Tower Card. This is the card tarot readers sometimes dread because they must look their clients in the eye and tell the the hard truth. Your world is about to fall down all around you, there is nothing you can do about it, it is a necessary process and it's gonna knock you on your ass.

I personally adore the Tower card. I love it when it comes up in a reading with clients and I love that our society has just been knocked on it's collective ass. The structures that were built around greed, power, and money are destructive to our families, our planet and obviously to our nation. I am thankful they are crumbling and being destroyed. They serve no one but a few who already have enough. Let's rip them down to their foundations and build them anew in ways that help everyone, and the planet, to thrive.

Change is an inevitable part of life. The only thing constant is change. If we cannot accept and embrace this we will not thrive: individually or collectively.

The tower card speaks of destruction, abrupt change, cataclysmic awakening, tearing down to the roots or foundations and a forceful redirection of beliefs. It speaks to us of looking closely at the foundations we have put into place. If we build upon non solid ground or shore our foundations up with sand we can be sure that change will never feel comfortable and that we will be effected more detrimentally than those who took the time and energy to build on high ground.

For many the economic down turn has cause heart-ache and panic. If you can get past this turmoil you have an amazing opportunity to figure out what actually matters and to rebuild or shore up your foundations with information, strength and love.

No one can upset a foundation that is grounded in purpose, passion and love.

My challenge to you is this:
What actually matters to you? If everything was striped away what would actually matter?
What can no one take away from you?
Can you see the opportunities all around you and start rebuilding?
Are you prepared to act? To change everything? To thrive?
Can you look past the fear and propaganda and find what makes you come alive?
Is it time to walk away from the "normal" way of doing things and take your destiny into your own hands?

Let's start manifesting a society that can bend and be flexible in times of chaos, that can weather storms and shelter it's inhabitants, that thrives in a way that makes everyone feel like a part of something greater, and that is sustainable so we may continue to exist.

We have an extraordinary opportunity here... let's make the most of it and dream really, really big.

Raspberry Scones

The last tarot class I made these and Tido the fabulous puppy has asked for the recipe.

2 cups unbleached flour
1/3 cup sugar plus a bit for top
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter cut into bits
1 large egg
1/2 cup heavy cream plus a bit to glaze
1 teaspoon almond extract
3/4 cup fresh or frozen raspberries (can use other fruit of choice)

*Preheat oven to 400 lightly butter baking sheet or use a pizza stone
*Mix dry ingredients well then add butter and combine until butter is no longer in clumps. The book says use 2 knives I just use my well washed hands to crumble it all together.
*place egg, cream and almond extract in a bowl, whisk then combine with dry ingredients
* turn out dough onto lightly floured work surface and knead lightly, gently fold in raspberries at this time
*form scones into one or two mounds place on baking sheet, cut with knife but do not separate.
*brush lightly with cream and sprinkle with sugar

symbol and Tarot

Here is a brief bit from the upcoming Tarot class I am teaching in West Seattle. There are still 2 spaces open if you'd like to join. It starts Monday night (july 21st)

Since language can be limiting and it is sometimes difficult to articulate spiritual journey in linear form, we are now seeing a resurgence of symbol as expression in the western world. As people delve into new experiences, many are finding that our current languages lack words to describe these events. To be able to communicate the “unspeakable,” people are turning to and rediscovering systems of symbolic language such as the I Ching, the Tarot, runes and astrology. “To the imagination the sacred is self-evident,” Nietzsche said. It is to the imagination that symbols speak, our focus should be learning to play again as we discover new ways to communicate with each other.

Symbols are rich channels of information. Determining the meaning held within them is a journey of personal discovery. No two people will ever view the same symbol in quite the same way. We each have our own life story behind us that adds to our experience and interpretation. Mythologist Joseph Campbell once remarked that those who do not know that symbols hold hidden meaning are “like diners going into the restaurant and eating the menu rather than the meal it describes.” The soul thinks in symbols. It is not literal-minded. It is play minded.

We sense that metaphor and symbol is a pathway to discovering, really discovering, ancient archetypes that hold the keys to personal transformation. Tools like the labyrinth, the tarot, and others can help you walk a path of deeper understanding, linking you to the collective unconscious and leading you to rediscover a life with more play and less “reality.”
