taste of georgetown the photos!

there is our lovely product card with leopard pin-up gear and a monkey.

in front of the mistress of Helle is the lovely grapefruit soaps with pink Himalayan salt. glorious!

the only drawback was that they got very slimy int he hotHOThot room

and after spending the last 30 minutes trying to get the other 2 images to upload I am calling it a failed attempt and moving on to better things. I shall try to hook them in later or potentially utilize them somewhere on the website.

Thursday night was spent amongst an amazingly hip group of people.

Seattle Yelpers are trendy and like to play.

Danielle, the owner of Helle, and I trucked down loads of soap, lip care product and tarot cards.

We were the only non-food vendor there so later on in the night we had to watch people carefully to make sure they did not try to eat the grapefruit soap samples as they bore a similar resemblance to jello shots.

Tarot cards were read, bear was spilled, free whiskey was consumed, and soap and people got slimy due to the balmy evening. At one point I turned to Danielle and pondered whether or not we were in LA cause it felt like no Seattle scene I had ever participated in.

Yelp you sure know how to throw a party! check me out on Yelp! and if you would be so inclined you can review me for good karma points

BE

Embrace where you are right now, and while you're at it, embrace the idea that you could be here - right where you are - for the rest of your life. If you find yourself unable to embrace that idea, then you just may be right where you are for the rest of your life.

We cannot know where we may be tomorrow. Oh, we think we can, but we can't, really. We construct nice, tidy scenarios for our lives. We may even build in a few wonderful options, like winning the lottery. We shy away from the options that frighten us. Fact is that what frightens us, owns us. Fact is that our nice, tidy scenarios limit us. Fact is that only by embracing the mystery of it all, only by embracing the fact that we know nothing - we know NOTHING! - can we be without the pain and annoyance of wanting what we do not have.

BE.

I found this again in my inbox... it had been saved for a good reason. sometimes words hit you over the head and these did just that... again...embrace the idea that you could be here - right where you are - for the rest of your life. If you find yourself unable to embrace that idea, then you just may be right where you are for the rest of your life.

this is from the Sacred Earth Seven Element Tarot... a beautiful daily reminder of life.

there is a thin line

between play and strife.

today's tarot draw was the 5 of wands you can see in the image 5 men holding sticks in a circle.

this card shows a standoff. but are they at

war?

play?

there is a very fine line between the two and it is up to us to choose laughter in this situation.

who cares that you have just been insulted... the best thing you can do in a tense situation is laugh.

this is true in any tense situation.

endorphins will be released, muscular tensions will be released. even if no one else joins in, or they move to bash you with their stick--because you have discharged your anger/tension with laughter, you will be able to react swifter, with more clarity and confidence.

choose play... learn to laugh at yourself and situations more readily.

your life will be a lot more fun and you will be a much more pleasant person (with less bruises)

you can access the contact form of enlightenment here

stop talking now

in my desperate attempts to launch myself into the social world i find myself today making comments on twitter. and all of a sudden i freeze. and wonder what teh f*ck have i just said. that was trite and stupid and then the self critical monsters begin again.

drawing the tarot card of the day explained it all...

it a knight of swords day.

the know-it-all pompous teen-aged dumb-ass who offers advice freely and without thought or concern.

you know the one who leaps in to conversations without knowing WTF you are all talking about and manages to make everyone wrong, or dumb, or roll their eyes and walk away.

damn. what a day to take a leap.

however it explains perfectly why i had the balls to leap in and respond... cause knight of swords is brash and rash and dones't care... until later... when he's wondering where everyone went.

i think i shall put on my grubbies and go dig in the garden.
there it is almost impossible to offend, mostly because the faeries that live in my garden are sassy and will have lots of "good" advice to throw right back at me.

my life is on sale

so it seems people might either a)have a hard time receiving b) don't trust things that say free or c) not want to take advantage of the person offering things up for free.

so let me spell it out for you. i want you to come in and see me for a session. i need to build my client base and get more people in for healing during these stressful times in our history. you are not taking advantage of me, i am offering my time in exchange for yours and if you feel you get the better end of the deal go out and do something nice for others. this "special" was brought on by a radio interview of random people stepping up in this economy and doing random generous acts. i don't have money to give you all but i seem to have a lot of time. so come grab yourself a slice of it.

until sunday may 10th, when you bring a friend to a session you both receive an hour of my time for the price of one of you. what does this look like?

two 60 minute reflexology sessions for $75 ($37.50 each)
two 60 minute tarot readings for $100 ($50 each)
two 90 minute 'afternoon w/ your soul' session (combo of both tarot and reflexology) $225 ($112.50 each)

yes it's a steal. yes you should sign up now. why? cause it really sucks trying to be nice to people and they ignore you and the gesture. but mostly cause i want to meet new people and to help people de-stress. it's hard functioning on a daily basis and we are all strapped for cash so spread some love and some money around and get yourself a little nurturing.

class updates

More links to other cool blogs I did not know exist that talk about my upcoming class!

seattle healthy living

A note on the March 11th class! I am intending to have it be half education/presentation and half self-help things you can do at home. So you won't be bored, come see and learn and play.

Am off to Portland this weekend to teach a foot pain class, there is still time to register if you want to add this awesome technique to your healing abilities. Even in a down economy people need help for their ouchy feet.

I think I broke my advanced tarot class on Saturday. We all looked fried after spending 4 intense hours with the major arcana. Good think they get a week off to recover.

tarot rocks

i can't imagine a more graceful way of figuring things out. what a treat to have cards with images you like tell you things. even the scary cards. it's nice to come face-to-face with it and just acknowledge it so you can then figure out how to move on.

i have learned so much in this last week and i am so excited to keep pouring the information in.

my birthday reading was great. so much there about how hard this least year has been but how many gifts were gained from that experience. i would not be here if it wasn't for that discomfort. and i would not be able to grasp at what is coming up. it is nice to have such simple reminders that all is exactly as it should be.

here's to this coming year of adventure. may i be able to say a hearty YES to it in every way.

birth of new things

first off i am in the process of compiling and creating a tarot book. this is exciting. i think it will just end up being a download things as i am not feeling inclined to make it long enough to bother figuring out how to formally publish it. besides downloaded books are the new "green" they save trees, water, ink and fuel. look for it late spring, early summer. maybe sooner if life continues to be slower here at the ranch.

i shall be on the lookout for an editor and someone who understands layouts and converting things to a download able format and ebooks stuff... anyone out there?

the next conception is a new blog this one all about the sh*t... wait i mean stuff life flings at you and how no adult never told you the truth about being an adult and well it's one part rant, one part obsessive movie and book reading , one part lost teenager, and well it's just plain old silly me and i needed it to be a bit separate from this so i did not have to pretend to be professional.

West Seattle Herald

Look there's me :D

Look into 2009

"There's hope out there" West Seattle psychics look at the year ahead

Friday, January 02, 2009

In years past, those suffering from a lonely-heart or physical illness may have consulted a psychic for a peak into their future for a hopeful sign. The psychic, in turn, consulted a large crystal ball, a numerology chart, a deck of tarot cards, and personal intuition in hopes of finding that sign. But it's 2009, and everything has changed, even in the mysterious world of the occult.

According to three area professionals claiming psychic ability or fine-tuned intuition who offer "readings," the universal question, "Will I ever find Mr. Right?" percolating behind storefront curtains, in coffee shop booths, and at corporate summer picnics, has yielded to, "When will I get a job?"

Fortune Teller Sheila Lyon owns Market Magic in Pike Place Market and has done over one hundred bachelorette parties in West Seattle and entertained at area corporate events.

She struggled to lift a heavy crystal ball, 200 millimeters in diameter, or about 7 inches, at Market Magic. "These lead crystal balls are made in Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Italy," she said. Her shop is wallpapered with large, colorful vintage posters of Houdini, bearded mystics, and other, other-worldly performers. She sells large crystal balls for about $700, ventriloquist dolls and the apparatus to safely saw your assistant in half. "You never know what you're going to see in a crystal ball," she said. "I definitely feel something coming from this crystal ball. This is really weird but I'm seeing libraries, shelves and shelves of books, and cooking, people getting together to cook more often. The poor economy is humbling. People are going to get together."

In Lyon's shop, four customers pulled four "Native American Medicine Cards" from a 56-card deck, one for each season in 2009. All have colorful drawings of a full moon. On some are feathers to represent air, coral to represent water, and horns or animal teeth to represent land. The first three cards chosen were the Raven, Weasel, and Porcupine. Lyon said the Raven means tough times in winter and we'll need a bit of magic to get through it. The Weasel means we will need a sense of humor to make it through spring. The Porcupine card means, "Back off. I am on a mission...Hard work ahead."

A customer chose the "Blank" card for fall, and Lyon's eyes lit up. "This is like the 'wild card,'" she exclaimed. "This means that by the end of fall dreams will come true. That's a great sign to end 2009."

"We all need a tune up in 2009," said Amy Goetz, who lives and works in West Seattle. She practices "transformative body work," and is a degreed in massage therapy and reflexology. She also reads tarot cards and practices shamanism. "We're all carrying around a story. When things get bleak we forget we are the authors of our own story. My job is to jump start it, look at patterns, talk about things we can change to get you on a new path, and take action.

"We need to get off our collective asses," she said. "Stop sitting in front of the TV and start taking action. It doesn't have to be huge, but if you want anything to change you need to act. We also need to listen to the committees in our head. In 2009, people have to stop getting into self-depreciating patterns, and create a positive, hopeful story. We must then proceed from the inability to move, past guilt, and into discovery. Find teachers to help take small actions as 2009 progresses. Stand up and walk forward. This is a healing process.

"I've noticed a lot of people in West Seattle seeking out new direction, 'Do I start a new job? Do I start living my dream, or hold onto security in fear of losing my job?' Some people cling to, 'I don't know what's going to happen,' while others say, 'Maybe this recession is an opportunity to change.'"

"My shamanic work is based on indigenous spirituality, connecting to nature, yourself, the healing of your soul," she said. "Any traumatic event you have had caused a flaking off of your soul. Trauma causes fright, and as a result, a part of you fractures off like little pieces of glass. Shamanic work goes into the in- between world, a meditative state, to bring back the pieces. "

"I use intuitional insight as well as a numerology format," said Lance Campbell of West Seattle. He is a friend and colleague of Lyon, and they work corporate parties together. "I just enlighten (clients) in a helpful way so that their decisions are their own." The Australian-born 50 year-old with the rectangular mustache and beard wears a "yukata," an Asian robe to add a look of Eastern ambiance, and acknowledged a large component of his profession is performance. He puts on "interactive ESP" shows and said he plays with human psychology.

"After my ESP show an onslaught of folks from the audience want their numerology explained. I won't invade their private thoughts. I won't embarrass them. Corporate clients can relax on that.

"For 2009, how we do Chinese numerology is the 2 plus the 9 equals 11. You then add the two ones which equal two. The number two represents continuation without real change, while people will experience more of a community feel, due possibly to economic times. We will become close knit and help each other, either outwardly or it could be behind the scenes. I fill my mental vision around West Seattle and see that in 2009 people will realize they need to take care of trees more. People who are cutting trees down should stop and say, 'If we're not careful we're going to look like Kansas.'

" I see more people coming in (to West Seattle.) This may spur us on to actually do better mass transit into the city.

"We're at a point of change. It is not like a wall, but a hill we are standing before. There is hope out there, tempered with a little bit of fear, definitely."

What's in the cards? VOTE!

I pulled a few cards for the election: here are the results and my interpretation.

The Magician: It is possible to create whatever you desire on the earth plane. In order to achieve this one must trust that the universe has all the elements available to harness if you reach outside yourself.

In regards to the election: The one who is elected will be a person whom can truly manifest greatness, who has the desire to mix elements and create a new way of being. Someone who utilizes all resources and strengths available.

In reverse this could mean slight of hand or pulling the wool over others eyes to gain power.

Strength or Luster: Love conquers all. In challenging times we must look within . We must stare deep into the beasts eyes lay down our weapons and live through honor and love. Only love can tame the beast, weapons or use of brute strength only annoys and makes stronger your enemy. Beware of the temptation to use force and force victory, for those acts will only cause temporary freedom, true freedom is won through love, agreements and spoken words. It takes more courage to stand and strive to understand your enemy than to blindly lash out and try to destroy it.

The pen is mightier than the sword. Only one willing to lay down the sword will succeed in today's world.

The Three of Pentacles can be summed up as a card that often comes up to mark the achievement of goals in your working area, and teaches attainment through effort. It advises you to keep the pressure up so that you maintain momentum, and to pay attention to detail. Through focus and determined effort victory will be achieve. Vision must be clean, clear and the apprentice must be willing to hold steady for extended periods of time, holding nothing but the detailed vision of his success. Only then will mastery be granted to him.

May the man with the clearest vision and supporters who help him hold that vision win.
Blessed be, I must say I am delighted this event is almost behind us. I can see the finish line and so I shall put on that extra bit of steam and put every last bit of effort I have into manifesting both a record breaking voter turn out and a glorious new shift of focus.

may it be so.

If you haven't yet voted it is your right and your responsibility and if you aren't registered then shame on you for missing out on one of the most unique days in the history of America, for I think it shall be unique and amazing. Also since you lack foresight and responsibility you cannot bitch, moan nor complain about what occurs. Maybe next time it will force you to get up off your ass and take a stand, and make a choice.

I have been dreaming. Weird sometimes violent dreams, all of them disturbing. To find meaning in the chaotic visions I have been reading and discovering that once again I am purging stories that keep me small.

Today I was wandering through Eckhart Tolle's New Earth and felt compelled to write about the Death card.

I believe we have very compelling stories about the lives we are all living and I believe those stories keep us safe and sane. But sometimes those stories are keeping us from our potential and they need to be re-written or die.

The death card symbolizes an ending. Transformation is occurring or is about to ride into town and shake things up. Death is usually never about a literal physical death but about a small Ego death.

The problem with Ego death is that it can often be worse than a literal death. After all you won't be around to have to clean up the messes involved in a actual death, you get to depart and therefore any risks you take or promises you break or vial words- well that won't catch up to you until the next incarnation. An Ego death can be messy, brutal and more frightening then jumping out of an airplane.

The joy of Ego death is that you are growing beyond the confines and limiting aspects of the story you have written yourself into. And from personal experience of at least 10 minor and major Ego deaths, most of them are quiet easy transitions once you decide to take the leap.

So when Death come knocking in a reading, you can bet I am eagerly scanning the cards around it for helpful suggestions, things to watch out for, and ways to make the ending and subsequent beginning more easy.

From New Earth:
"All it means is that sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on."
and
"Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because it is the experience you are having at the moment."

And if nothing else can convince you to embrace the joys of death remember that the French call an orgasm "La petite mort" the little death. Here's to an abundance of little deaths!

Times they are a changing

This post is long overdue. Alas it is here at the most perfect of times, as with everything.

As a nation (and a planet) we are undergoing a huge shift in the way of things. I believe we have come upon the Tower Card. This is the card tarot readers sometimes dread because they must look their clients in the eye and tell the the hard truth. Your world is about to fall down all around you, there is nothing you can do about it, it is a necessary process and it's gonna knock you on your ass.

I personally adore the Tower card. I love it when it comes up in a reading with clients and I love that our society has just been knocked on it's collective ass. The structures that were built around greed, power, and money are destructive to our families, our planet and obviously to our nation. I am thankful they are crumbling and being destroyed. They serve no one but a few who already have enough. Let's rip them down to their foundations and build them anew in ways that help everyone, and the planet, to thrive.

Change is an inevitable part of life. The only thing constant is change. If we cannot accept and embrace this we will not thrive: individually or collectively.

The tower card speaks of destruction, abrupt change, cataclysmic awakening, tearing down to the roots or foundations and a forceful redirection of beliefs. It speaks to us of looking closely at the foundations we have put into place. If we build upon non solid ground or shore our foundations up with sand we can be sure that change will never feel comfortable and that we will be effected more detrimentally than those who took the time and energy to build on high ground.

For many the economic down turn has cause heart-ache and panic. If you can get past this turmoil you have an amazing opportunity to figure out what actually matters and to rebuild or shore up your foundations with information, strength and love.

No one can upset a foundation that is grounded in purpose, passion and love.

My challenge to you is this:
What actually matters to you? If everything was striped away what would actually matter?
What can no one take away from you?
Can you see the opportunities all around you and start rebuilding?
Are you prepared to act? To change everything? To thrive?
Can you look past the fear and propaganda and find what makes you come alive?
Is it time to walk away from the "normal" way of doing things and take your destiny into your own hands?

Let's start manifesting a society that can bend and be flexible in times of chaos, that can weather storms and shelter it's inhabitants, that thrives in a way that makes everyone feel like a part of something greater, and that is sustainable so we may continue to exist.

We have an extraordinary opportunity here... let's make the most of it and dream really, really big.

Raspberry Scones

The last tarot class I made these and Tido the fabulous puppy has asked for the recipe.

2 cups unbleached flour
1/3 cup sugar plus a bit for top
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter cut into bits
1 large egg
1/2 cup heavy cream plus a bit to glaze
1 teaspoon almond extract
3/4 cup fresh or frozen raspberries (can use other fruit of choice)

*Preheat oven to 400 lightly butter baking sheet or use a pizza stone
*Mix dry ingredients well then add butter and combine until butter is no longer in clumps. The book says use 2 knives I just use my well washed hands to crumble it all together.
*place egg, cream and almond extract in a bowl, whisk then combine with dry ingredients
* turn out dough onto lightly floured work surface and knead lightly, gently fold in raspberries at this time
*form scones into one or two mounds place on baking sheet, cut with knife but do not separate.
*brush lightly with cream and sprinkle with sugar
*bake until golden brown about 15-20 minutes
*let cool 10 minutes, re-cut then serve

symbol and Tarot

Here is a brief bit from the upcoming Tarot class I am teaching in West Seattle. There are still 2 spaces open if you'd like to join. It starts Monday night (july 21st)

Since language can be limiting and it is sometimes difficult to articulate spiritual journey in linear form, we are now seeing a resurgence of symbol as expression in the western world. As people delve into new experiences, many are finding that our current languages lack words to describe these events. To be able to communicate the “unspeakable,” people are turning to and rediscovering systems of symbolic language such as the I Ching, the Tarot, runes and astrology. “To the imagination the sacred is self-evident,” Nietzsche said. It is to the imagination that symbols speak, our focus should be learning to play again as we discover new ways to communicate with each other.

Symbols are rich channels of information. Determining the meaning held within them is a journey of personal discovery. No two people will ever view the same symbol in quite the same way. We each have our own life story behind us that adds to our experience and interpretation. Mythologist Joseph Campbell once remarked that those who do not know that symbols hold hidden meaning are “like diners going into the restaurant and eating the menu rather than the meal it describes.” The soul thinks in symbols. It is not literal-minded. It is play minded.

We sense that metaphor and symbol is a pathway to discovering, really discovering, ancient archetypes that hold the keys to personal transformation. Tools like the labyrinth, the tarot, and others can help you walk a path of deeper understanding, linking you to the collective unconscious and leading you to rediscover a life with more play and less “reality.”
