spinning straw, confronting the shadow

This is an article by

talking about the tale of Rumplestiltskin...
Psychoanalyze this tale a bit and you'll see that Rumplestiltskin is part of the personality of the miller's daughter. In the Freudian vocabulary, he is her Id. For you Jungians, he is the Shadow. But whatever you call it, Rumplestiltskin represents a creative force that the girl has within her from the start. She just doesn't realize it.
And that's where we all are. We all have the power to spin straw - to transform our mundane abilities and talents - into gold - into our hearts' desire. We might need some level of desperation to see this, maybe not a threat of death, but something that shakes us out of the status quo. And even then, like the miller's daughter, we're more likely to weep and wail than to take action. We need a nudge, but we also need to be daring.
Daring to use our hidden powers - that side of us that is reckless, creative, even dangerous - that is what delivers amazing results.
It's also what terrifies us.

The miller's daughter got what she wanted - three rooms of gold, a powerful husband and a baby - and decided she no longer needed her creative muse. She sent Rumplestiltskin packing (to the netherworld, according to most versions of the tale; Freud and Jung would concur). In the traditional world of the fairy tale, anyone with an active Id is in trouble. Better to settle down.
But many of us settle down long before we fulfill our dreams. We banish our inner Rumplestiltskin way too early. We play it safe. We are terrified, actually, of how wonderful we could be if we let ourselves be our true selves. Our Id is dangerous, that's a fact. But it can be activated and controlled.
This week, think a bit about Rumplestiltskin. See if your unconscious comes up with some terrific new idea that you've never had before, simply because you've invited your Id to play a part in your life. This is precisely what happened to me this week.
And the question, remember, is not really "straw or gold?" It's really "death or gold?" Which will you choose?

why do some people...

...have so much trouble and/or bad luck? I just got word that my sister broke down on the way to visit my sick grandma? the good news she broke down in Spokane and not Safford Arizona., so someone can rescue her. Other bad news her not-yet-paid-off car needs a couple thousand dollars of work.

But what is it that attracts this? Why does it seem that bad things always happen to her? Especially as she seems like she is totally trying to be positive, move forward and make good choices?

And why does this other acquaintance I know always have stunningly good luck? With everything, without trying? Who manifests things and then throws them away...

why?

Is there some gene my sister is missing? Is it self confidence, or knowing the right people? Maybe she has monsters... hmm i think it must be monsters.

Any theories cause I'd love to hear them...

when life gets too complicated

try the simple things first.

this post sums it up perfectly: when looking for the eggs check UNDER the chickens first

it's a monday, on a tuesday which is fine by me... the basement got mostly finished yesterday!

but... the water is still dripping...
have called in help because we checked under all the chickens and now it's time for the professionals to be called in to solve the problem. sometimes life requires you seek out help, releasing some of your hard earned cash to keep the flow alive. *sigh* or in this case to stop the flow. ha ha ha.

am going to go meditate on abundance thereby manifesting more of it in the form of clients and/or a movie for eric

planting the seeds

I have been listening to this program on retraining my brain to accept in new belief structures.

Today I hit the jack pot of all information.

My job is to plant the seed of new belief, whatever that is: a new income level, a new car, anything.

My job is not to know or even understand the HOW. The universe will provide the how: the people, the insights, the ideas, the media spots, the for sale sign.

Now it's just this simple and it's not just this simple. I must act as if it already is, I must visualize it, find a picture, create a mental movie, feel the joy, I must to act, to as much of an extreme as is possible, as if it already is. Only then will you begin to override the systems in place in yourself that keep you in this current safe smaller place. Once things begin to be re-written-MAGIC- Things begin to show up, ideas you would never have acted on before you leap at, you meet people who are or know the people you need to help you, you spot the tiny ad for your car/home/partner and you act. You act, you act.

First you act as if, and then you on.

Here's to a life of change, abundance, and beauty!

chocolate prophecies

I just ate a Dove chocolate and the message inside told me to make a list of my dreams, which reminded me to actually post about Thursdays circle.

First we played with moon magic. Tonight, Sunday, is a full moon so we made three lists. First a list of things to release. On the full moon the moon is at it's greatest power, in the coming weeks it will shed it's light until 14 days from now it will be dark. In this time it is the perfect time to make a list of the things you need to release and burn or bury then so their hold on you can dissipate with the energy of the moon.

We also made two list to keep, one was of things you are thankful for in your life and one was of things you desire. The idea with this process is to do these two lists every 3-4 months and check to see if the things you are thankful for in your life were ever on your desire list. It is a sneaky way to keep track of your ability to manifest things in your life.

We drew cards from the Goddess deck and did brief intuitive reading for each other, stating only one word "hits" we got from looking at the card.

There was a brief talk about mythology, specifically origin mythology. I sent out a challenge to anyone who wanted to accept it to play with their ideas about the origin of the universe and humans. My intention behind this process is to develop a relationship with the way you view the world and it's stories. Some of us hold on to beliefs that no longer serve us but we don't realize we are holding on to them until we look deeper into ourselves and explore key issues. If there is conflict between the truth you are holding in your body (the one given to you growing up) and the belief you hold in your heart (the one you choose) there will be difficulties in making things happen in life. The conflict needs to be resolved and old beliefs need to be gently returned to family and society. If we know and understand how we believe the universe works, we can control the outcome of our daily existence a bit more. Spend some time journaling or collecting images about the way you believe the universe and humans came to be. This may take awhile to find all your stories. Then gently read or look through them and see if any are no longer authentic to who you are now. If so bless them and allow them leave.

Following this was a discussion of happiness. It seems to be my work right now to play with the idea of happiness and so I shared some of my insights. From all the articles and books I have been reading three things stood out most as to what made people happiest. Permission to fail, having the ability to take risks, follow dreams and know that there is a support system there to back you up seems key to me. Connection, specifically to other people and to nature. With out connection we are alone, how can there be happiness if there is no person or object of natural beauty to invoke, experience or participate with. Service if you find small ways to help other people, animals or the planet you are most likely a happier person.

We had a great discussion about these ideas and other thoughts were brought up by the group.

Last we played with manifestation. I had asked the group to bring something they were working on manifesting. We share challenges we had with choosing, scary manifestation stories that needed to be healed and read a great passage from the book Eat,Pray, Love about manifesting and having people spiritually sign your petition. We chatted while eating beautiful food and drinking tea and ripped pages out of magazines so that we could visually see the images or writing on a daily basis. For me, I have found that this daily bumping into the thing you are manifesting helps focus my energy and therefore manifest my desire in a more wholly formed way.

Last I left a suggestion for starting a journal solely devoted to Miracles, Blessings and Gratitude. Noticing the small everyday miracle, blessings and moments of gratitude can only serve to make you a happier person, more focused on the here and now , full of hope and waiting for the delight as you spot the next moment of small magic that enters your life daily.
